Chronic Conditions Program & Intern Services
Caring For Our Community
At Remedy Wellness Centre we are passionate about health, learning and our community. So we’ve come up with an idea that brings all of these things together. Our Chronic Conditions Program and Intern Services!
Both programs are offered by new graduates of the allied healthcare professions who join Remedy while they are between completing their educational training and writing their board exams to become certified in their profession.
Intern Services are available to anyone, can be booked online and do not require a doctors referral.
Chronic Conditions Program: A referral from a medical doctor or from an official “society” is required to be approved for this program. Chronic Conditions include, but are not limited to:
- Arthritis
- Cancer (less than 1 year in remission)
- Chronic Pain
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Fibromyalgia
- Parkinson’s
You must be pre approved for the Chronic Conditions Program with adequate documentation/referral from your primary medical care team, such as a doctors referral. Call to Book for Chronic Conditions Program, not available in online booking.
What if i have insurance?
REGULAR INTERN SERVICES: None of our Intern Services are covered by your extended health insurance, because our Interns are usually between completing school and writing their board exams to become fully registered. Regular Intern Services are available to everyone and anyone, but are not covered.
CHRONIC CONDITIONS PROGRAM: If you have insurance coverage through your extended health benefits or ICBC, that should be used first at the regular rate charged by the practitioners. However, if your insurance only covers a portion, under this program you will never be billed out of pocket more than the Chronic Conditions rate. If your insurance is used up for the year, you only pay the Chronic Conditions rate until your insurance renews the following year.
Some practitioners continue to participating in the Chronic Conditions Program when they are fully registered and covered by insurance, some are interns, and therefore not covered by your insurance. For example, you can see an Intern for TCM at the regular intern rate, regardless of whether you have insurance or not. You can still use your insurance to see an Acupuncturist, but you’re not required to.
However, if you want to participate in the CCP, and attend acupuncture treatments with a Registered Acupuncturist, you have to use your insurance coverage up first, and then you can continue at the CCP rate. Let us know if you have questions.
Treatments
TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE
TCM is very effective for most Chronic Conditions Patients. TCM includes cupping, gua sha and tui na massage, with any of our Intern Acupuncturists. Some of our Registered Acupuncturists also participate in the Chronic Conditions Program, with whom needling/acupuncture is also an option.

Massage Intern (Not RMT)
While studying to become Registered Massage Therapists, students often join Remedy as Interns. These interns offer massage at a reduced rate for regular patients, and also participate in our Chronic Conditions Program.
These services are NOT covered by your extended health plan, as these INTERNS are NOT registered yet.
- Regular Treatment: $ 115.50/90mins, $100/75mins, $85/60 mins, $75/45mins, $60/30mins

You can still expect an excellent experience at a fraction of the regular cost. You will be helping this intern to continue to develop all of their skills including stream lining the patient interview process and their assessment skills, developing their hands on techniques and home care prescription. There are many layers to building a solid foundation for a successful practice and you can help these interns build theirs, while benefiting from their professional knowledge as a new graduate.

Counselling
Our Registered Clinical Counsellor is not a student, so her services do qualify for extended health benefits. However, the Chronic Conditions Program is meant to help members of our community who can’t afford counselling at the regular fee and/or don’t have extended health benefits.
