Clinical Counselling Style

Registered Clinical Counsellors can bring many different approaches into the treatment, based on what they believe will benefit you most.  Emily often uses these counselling techniques:
  • Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy,
  • Solutions Focused Therapy,
  • Positive and Strength Based Counselling,
  • Exposure Therapy,
  • Nature Therapy,
  • Talk Therapy

Emily is currently off on maternity leave. We have 2 other counsellors who are available for registered clinical counselling.

Emily to came to Victoria for her undergraduate degree at UVIC and began her studies in techniques of Behaviorism and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She then completed her Masters in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University which had a strong focus on practical application and counselling skills development.
There, and throughout her practicum Emily developed her training in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solutions Focused Therapy. Emily has always believed in the importance of the mind body connection to promote wellness in a person as a whole, and provides counselling in a way that fosters and honors this connection.

Born and raised in Toronto Ontario, Emily-May Bebb always knew she wanted to pursue an education in Counselling Psychology in order to grow and develop her interest and ability in helping those around her through a perspective of growing the strength and independence of the individual to help themselves. As a passionate nature lover the call of the British Columbia wilderness drove you to move to Victoria, BC.

Emily has always found it very important to adhere to evidence based practice and employs a wide variety of techniques in order to best suit each individual’s needs. She likes to say to her clients “I may be the expert on psychology, but you are the expert on you, so we can work together to find the program that is your best fit”. It is important to her to provide her clients with the skills and tools that will enable them to work towards mental, physical, and emotional wellness that stands the test of time and adversity.

A very important part of Emily’s practice involves teaching clients to get more in touch with their bodies, become better at picking up on body signals, and become more able to understand the messages our bodies may be trying to tell us. She also believes that unexplainable chronic pain is almost always the result of the brain attempting to store emotions in the body in a way that usually does not benefit the individual, but can be improved through awareness, insight, and strategic behaviors.

Emily uses her knowledge in partnership with her clients knowledge of themselves to help clients overcome a variety of challenges including depression, anger management, emotional regulation, anxiety, phobias, PTSD/trauma, emotional and practical challenges related to chronic pain, relationship and communication skills, parenting skills and strategies, assertiveness training, coping with stress and adversity and life stage changes, as well as strengthening resilience and finding daily gratitude and joy no matter what life brings.

Emily believes in the power of the individual coupled with the therapeutic relationship to bring clients to a state of wellness that not only helps clients to overcome adversity but continues a process of emotional skill and understanding that will promote a client’s ability to explore their true potential and live a life filled with joy and meaning. Simply being ok is not the end goal in Emily’s practice, rather living life to its fullest and enjoying each day is the milestone Emily hopes to see each and every one of her clients reach.

Emily is currently accepting new patients at Remedy Wellness Centre Online and offers a free 20 minute phone consult to ensure her services are the right fit for you.
