Rehab Pilates in Victoria & Online

We offer three options for Rehab Pilates training in Victoria:

1. Private One on One Rehab Pilates
2. Rehab Pilates as part of your treatment plan
3. Online Rehab Pilates

If you have a history of injuries, especially anything related to your spine (disk herniation, spondylosis, whiplash, etc.) or other health complications, it is highly recommended that you have at least 1-3 private sessions, before moving on to the online training programs.

Rehab Pilates Online

Rehab Pilates can now be learned on your own time, in the comfort of your own home, with minimal to no equipment. You get lifetime access to the material in these programs, plus downloadable PDF's of the Basic Principles, Free Progress Tracking Resources and More!

Rehab Pilates Basic Principles Program

Picture
Kasey has developed two new Rehab Pilates Programs that you can do online, at your own pace, from the comfort of your own home. The first program Rehab Pilates Basic Principles covers all of the basic principles you need to learn in order to build a good foundation of movement. These include:
  • Breathing
  • How to Properly Turn On Your Core
  • Proper Pelvic Placement
  • Ribcage Placement
  • Finding a Neutral Shoulder
  • Head and Neck Placement
You will learn a lot about the theory and principles as well as practice them individually. At the end, there's a workout you can do in just 10 minutes, to practice these principles. Regular practice is building muscle memory, and retraining your nervous system to use these areas in new and different ways. Its just like learning to ride a bike or learning any other sport. Once you've got this part down, which is your foundation, you're ready to build on it, with the next program.

This program is a pre-requisite for the next program, Rehab Pilates Basic's Workout for Beginners.

In this program, you will learn 23 new exercises. Kasey breaks down each exercise in detail and provides you with several modification options like using bands, bolsters, 2lb weights, mini-stability ball, foam roller, etc. These props can be used to assist you with achieving ease of movement and range while avoiding triggering pain. They can also be used for some variety.
Like any fitness program, it needs to be changed up at least every 6-8 weeks, in order to continue to see gains. You can achieve this by doing a slightly different version of the exercise, using a different prop. Your nervous system will have to adapt and learn use of the new prop, therefore you continue to see gains.
Once you've learned the exercises and tried all the props, you can perfect them with practice, practice, practice. You get two 45 min workouts to follow along to.

will my insurance cover the cost of rehab pilates?

Is Rehab Pilates Covered by My Benefits Plan?

Rehab Pilates, when prescribed as homecare as part of an RMT treatment plan, is covered by your benefits, but most of the treatment has to be focused on hands on treatment.   The majority of the session would be hands on, primarily   Neurokinetic Therapy, and together you would build a Rehab Pilates Program that you do at home.

If you want the entire session to be just Rehab Pilates, your insurance will not cover it.

Both options would include access to video's demonstrating the exercises, so you have a resource to work with from home.  We use an app called Physitrack for this. You  can also print the pictures and descriptions of the exercises.

what is stott pilates?

What is Stott Pilates?

All of Kasey's professional training has been through STOTT REHAB PILATES, which is a scientifically-based intelligent exercise programming that has been developed by expert fitness and health professionals, used by people of all ages and fitness levels from the elderly and injured to the elite athletes training for competition.

The  primary focus is on restoring proper biomechanics, rehabilitation, restoring mobility and strength, aligning the spine and peripheral joints. Its a systematic movement based approach to neuromuscular re-education by observing and understanding optimal and non-optimal movement strategies, and how these strategies correlate with pain and pathology.
do i need  pilates props and small equipment

Pilates Props & Small Equipment

You can get through all programs with no equipment or with all of the recommended equipment. Its up to you. All of these things are relatively inexpensive and a lot of them can be substituted with things you have around the house. You will get the most use out of a good pilates/yoga mat, the mini stability ball and a 6 foot theraband or other resistance band. I don't recommend any specific brands, but if you're allergic to latex you will want to get the latex free theraband. We use the pilates ring the least, and the weighted balls can be substituted with 2 cans of soup or 2 regular hand held weights.

We do not currently sell most of these products at the clinic, with the exception of the latex free therabands. You can find most of them at local places like Walmart, London Drugs, Winners, Superstore or order online from Stott or Amazon.
